A strong start for Life Skills.
This September, Texas Sports Academy launched live Life Skills Workshops for our student-athletes—and the energy has been outstanding.

01 / September Life Skills Newsletter
Built around one big idea.
These short, high-energy sessions give students more than something to listen to. Each workshop is built around one big idea and one real-world “rep” students can put into action that same week. The goal is simple: help students build the habits, mindset, and leadership skills that support them in sport, school, and life. So far, students have shown up ready to engage, reflect, and grow. We are excited about the foundation they are building together. |

02 / September highlights
88 | students stayed through the full first Leadership Lab session, and nearly 9 out of 10 said they want more. |
Five workshops. One month.
01 | Finding Your Fire — September 10 Former NFL linebacker Jelani Jenkins kicked off the Life Skills Workshop series with nearly 90 students. Together, students explored motivation, purpose, and the importance of knowing their “why.” | 02 | Leadership Lab — September 16 and 23 Students identified their own gifts and studied real athletes to see that great teams need many different kinds of leaders. In the first session, 88 students stayed through the full workshop, and nearly 9 out of 10 students said they want more. | 03 | Meet Your Coach — September 22 and 24 Students got to know the coaches who support them and chose breakout rooms based on the conversations they wanted to join. It was a great opportunity to build connection and make Life Skills feel like a space designed for them. | 04 | How You Do One Thing — September 25 Coach Gary challenged students to think about their daily standards and why there is no such thing as a “small” habit. The way students approach the little things often shapes how they show up in the big moments. | 05 | Dream Big, Start Small — September 29 Coach Stacey led students through a powerful session on turning big goals into small, repeatable actions. Students created a personal “habit ladder” and committed to one small daily habit that moves them closer to the future they want. |

03 / The through-line
The same core skills, every week.
Throughout the month, students have continued to practice the same core skills: knowing their why, leading from where they are, owning their effort, responding to mistakes, and taking the next step forward. |

04 / Keep the conversation going at home
Three easy ways to reinforce the work.
A simple conversation at home can help students carry what they learn beyond the workshop. Here are a few easy ways to reinforce the work: |
01 | Ask about their rep Every workshop ends with one challenge to try during the week. Ask: “What was your challenge from the workshop?” | 02 | Use “next play” language After a tough game, practice, assignment, or test, encourage your student to learn from the moment without replaying it all night. There is always a next play. | 03 | Focus on the adjustment Try asking: “What did that experience teach you?” or “What will you adjust next time?” These questions help students see adversity as information they can use to grow. |

05 / Tools students can use
Turning insight into action.
We are continuing to build practical tools that help students turn insight into action. |
01 | Digital notebook Students will be able to reflect before a session, capture key takeaways, set a seven-day commitment, and track their progress. Each workshop will include a personal commitment, a daily check-off, and a few reflection prompts to help students stay connected to their goals. | 02 | Workshops & Events in TimeBack This is the home for Life Skills sessions, workshop information, and select replays for students who cannot attend live. | 03 | TimeBack parent dashboard Parents can view their child’s XP, active time, course activity, and daily progress through the parent dashboard at alpha.timeback.com. |

07 / Life Skills participation requirements
Who can join, and when.
We want every eligible student to take advantage of these opportunities. |
01 | Rocket Ship and Crew Ship Students in Rocket Ship and Crew Ship have access to Life Skills Workshops once they complete their daily XP. | 02 | Pirate Ship Students in Pirate Ship must earn 180 XP in order to participate in Life Skills Workshops. |
|
|
Thank you for encouraging your student to stay engaged, complete their daily work, and take advantage of the Life Skills experiences available to them. We are proud of the strong start this month and excited for what is ahead.
